Launched in 1982, the National Film Festival became an annual event in 2010. Since its eighth iteration in 2005, it has been held in Tangier. The festival is organized by the Moroccan Cinematographic Center, CCM. Participants include producers, directors, actors and directors competing in the short and feature-length categories, with an annual yield that is growing in quality and quantity.
The festival also seeks to serve as a point of convergence for all professionals in the audiovisual sector and invites the national and international public to discover this creative, dynamic and committed industry.
Tangier, the permanent headquarters of the festival, is a city that has historically been a pioneer in cinema, with cinemas open continuously since the 1920s, a multiplex and one of the few cinematheques in Mediterranean, located in the Cinéma Rif. Additionally, there are cinema theaters equipped with the latest technologies.
Tangier has been and continues to be the setting or filming location of many domestic and international productions, even big US blockbusters.
We invite you to discover Moroccan cinematic creativity by attending Morocco's National Festival of Cinema.
