As a marathon between two seas, the Atlantic and the Mediterranean, through a city of myth and legend, the Tangier marathon has a magic that very few others can capture.
Organized by the Tangier International Marathon Foundation with the support of government and other local entities, this event numbers three different courses: a 10 kilometers, a half marathon and a full marathon. This is a distinctive opportunity to see the urban environment of Tangier from coast to coast, travelling the breadth of one of the most beautiful cities in Morocco with the finest that the country has to offer in the way of culture and tourism.
The route is spectacular and a view of the strait accompanies runners for almost the entirety of the course. The marathon begins by the historic old city walls, several meters from the entrance to the city port of Tangier, at the Massira Alkhadra Square. Next it passes by the old railway station, the marina and the recently renovated corniche of Tangier. The course then follows the bay of Tangier until it arrives at Cap Malabata and makes an about-turn, but this time with the medina on the horizon all the way back to the starting point. From Dradeb, we continue up until the Dradeb market before turning back to the Massira Alkadra Square. With three courses and two seas, all that's missing is you!
