Welcome to the city of shopping temptation. Thanks to its geographical position, merchandise comes to Tangier from all corners of the world, and there are handicrafts, accessories, outlets, boutiques and two commercial centres that are among the most modern in Morocco.
Tangier's medina is the place to find the bazaars and artisanal shops – indeed one can buy almost anything there. You may well have a tremendous urge to redecorate your home when you see the rugs, lanterns and other decorative objects made by local craftsmen.
In the New Town, built early in the twentieth century, there are numerous boutiques and shops selling accessories; perfumeries, some of which create their own perfumes and essences; modern and traditional arcades; antique shops, etc. Visit the Rue Mexique which is always frenetically busy with shoppers and is open until late at night.
There are areas full of antique dealers; the famous Casabarata, where you can buy anything, from bric-a-brac to treasure; markets that exclusively sell shoes, handmade in the traditional way; French, Spanish and Turkish boutiques; designers and artists that sell their products in Concept Stores.
For international shopping there are the two commercial centres: Tangier City Mall and Socco Alto.

Shopaholics mustn't forget to walk through the medina's Petit Socco and get lost in its surrounding alleys that are full of little shops selling genuine, Moroccan handicrafts.
