The yearlong sunshine and the natural scenery generously endowed with greenery are reasons enough to make the golfing clubs of the region a must-visit.
The Royal Country Club of Tangier, conveniently situated in the middle of a forested area not far from the heart of the city, is the oldest club in the Mediterranean Basin. It is the first golf club in Morocco and was one of the first in all of Africa. Founded in 1914, it was designed by Cotton and Pennick with a remarkably British touch that is visible in the club-restaurant and across the 18-hole course that winds its way through a forest and wavy terrain.
The Cabo Negro golf club is situated in the locality of that name, near to Mdiq. Its 18 holes are located in a beautiful setting, surrounded by dunes, lagoons, beaches, and forests of pine and eucalyptus.
The Port Lixus Larache Royal Golf Course, which is situated close to Larache in a luxury urban development beside the Khamis Sahel locality, offers a challenging 18-hole course right in front of the sea.
Additional golf courses, such as the golf club of Asilah and the ambitious project of the Tangier Golf and Resort Club (to be inaugurated in 2017), will further boost the appeal of the region for aficionados of the sport.
