The remodelling of Larache's promenade (known as the Corniche) stands out among the new projects re-evaluating public spaces in the north of Morocco.
Larache has a particular atmosphere, dominated by the light. The promenade is in two sections: one half goes through the town and the other runs beside the sea. The aim has been to modernise the existing space and to adapt it to today's needs whilst preserving its past heritage. It has been very simply done – the historic elements have been kept and, in order to give priority to pedestrians, special care has been taken over the development of its green spaces and the lighting of them.
Among other projects, in the phase of development, is the alteration of the fishing port to accommodate leisure craft.
Visitors to Larache will find the Corniche one of the best parts of town to take a stroll; a comfortable space from where to observe the medina as well as other vistas of the town and surrounding landscape.
